The
Icebreaker HMS "Endurance" of the
British Royal Navy, presented a serious
emergency on Tuesday December 16, 2008,
touching rock bottom and flooded at
least four main compartments,
remaining then adrift at Sea on
having lost totally, for the flood, its
principal propulsion while it was
effecting its traffic towards the city
of Valparaiso, to
180 Nautical Miles (335 kilometres) to
the west of Top Sands, in the Western
Mouth of the Strait of Magellan. In the
Latitude 52 º 50 ' South and
Length 74 º 04 ' West.
