1968 - Sixth English Cattle Invasion to Argentina

This was a commercial full scale invasion, and Argentine government officials evidently inclined towards the invaders. At least one of these officials, I occupy an important position in the government's management of Dr. Raul R. Alfonsin.

In 1968 the British firm Deltec International and King Ranch, American-born associate and form the Pan American Deltec.

The King Ranch, came to own in Venado Tuerto (Santa Fe) 35,000 hectares and in southern Brazil something similar; estimated that in 1970 it had already reached a herd of 200,000 cattle heads, between the two countries.

The issue was to acquire more land in our Humid Pampa, in Uruguay and southern Brazil; were as 1,400,000 square kilometers and a bovine herd heads 140,000,000; figure exceeding three times the stock of Western Europe or the United States, according to statistics from 1970, made by the Ministry of Agriculture in Washington.

The British "Deltec International" was from 1900, the sole purchaser and distributor of Argentine meat, through its representatives meat packers, Swift, La Blanca, Armour, and La Negra; but the chain of meat packers between Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina reached twenty, ten of which still exist, especially in Brazil.

Port Of Departure were seven, Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires, La Plata, Montevideo, Paranagua, Santos and Rio Grande.

In short, the King Ranch bred American and the British Deltec processed.

A Judge, Dr. Salvador Maria Lozada, put everything on the table, when in 1970 he decree the bankruptcy to the meatpacker Swift, for tax escape of $ 25,000,000.

Even was refloated the old investigation of Lisandro de la Torre carried forward in 1935, who prosecuted several government officials of General Justo, among which were the Manager of the Central Bank (Raul Prebisch) and the Director of the Revenue (Enrique Malacorto,) and the Minister of Finance himself (Federico Pinedo).

But by the end of 1950, Federico Pinedo returned to have control of the economy; Raúl Prebisch was an advisor to the governments of Aramburu (1955) and Alfonsín (1984); whereas Enrique Malacorto was the Vice President of the Central Bank when the General Onganía was in government and foreign exchange evasion Swift was investigated.

The orders that then were sent him from justice to the Central Bank requiring reports to elucidate the truth about tax evasion, as well as those who sent the General Ongania, were delayed more than necessary.

Another reason, was aside from Malacorto the Minister of Economy was Adalbert Krieger Vasena, and depended on the Central Bank. In 1969, K. Vasena leaves his post and took the Regional Office for Latin America Area English "Deltec International".

What Judge Losada did was not isolated, also the commands of  the Argentina Air Force objected to the Argentine State to sell North American King Ranch, 80,000 acres in the area of Lechiguanas Islands in the Mesopotamia Argentina. The two actions made the giant Anglo-American monopoly livestock not continue forward.

So huge was the power of Deltec in the bankruptcy trial that Dr. Lozada took forward, it was found that in the balance of 1966, the company had made a profit of 2,800 million from the sale of meat in the international market . By then gave Argentina's trade balance surplus of 1,593 million dollars in foreign trade; is that this company almost double that of our country.

It really was a huge theft what they did to the Argentina. Until 1970, the meat sold to England, had no fixed price. The meat was auctioned in London between 7,000 butchers from across the country (3,700 were from  Deltec) so that prices were adjusted to their interests. Freight rates towards England, also were in their hand, as they did in their own vessels; insurance were made through Lloyds, saying through them. And most amazing of all, is that even domestic freight charge in England to Argentina.

By then the ton of meat cost about $ 400, and Argentina only returning $ 180.

As the closure of anecdotal bellies 1970 in our country is remembered. By which, to not sacrifice young cattle, beef and Finland, one 80,000 tons was imported. The absurdity was that the meat had Argentina, which were sold to Finland were from  Deltec. For the same meat Argentina had won $ 180 and buy it now $ 400 a tonne. But this most cruel it is, no longer be anecdotal, nevertheless.

Both were the desires of this powerful empire in London magazine "International Manager" in one of its issues of October 1970, published a Deltec circular addressed to his managers overseas, and which is described in a clearly and precisely the unscrupulous actions and even defiant they had.

It reads:

"It's probably not wise to send out a Manager with a very strong moral sense. In many situations will have to seek compromises. In some countries, for example, business can not advance without buying some public officials. Managing that is not ready to proceed and under no circumstances should you go to countries where that is the custom. Managing been pandering to the beliefs of this country and in many bribery is not a sin. certain countries have government members who take it as a kind reward your career, it can be very short. "

The ideas of a few centuries ago that had the British crown, went from a simple way to his subjects, and came to our days without major setbacks.
